Gamepad Tracking

To access gamepad tracking settings, click the gamepad icon on the right side of Puppetstring's window. At the top of Gamepad tracking screen, you can enable or disable tracking by clicking the toggle. You can also manage your gamepad tracking profiles by clicking the ... icon.

Multiple profiles can be saved, each with different settings regarding device and tuning. These profiles can be switched by using the context menu or by using keyboard control.

Device

In this section, you can choose the device to be used for tracking by clicking the ... icon. You can choose between:

  • Automatic, which means it will choose any of the available controller that is connected (if multiple controllers are connected, the tracking will prioritize according to player ID).
  • Player 1-4, which means any controller that has been assigned to the corresponding player.
  • Specific device ID.
tip

If your gamepad is not listed in the drop-down menu, try pressing any button first (ABXY/D-Pad) then click the ... icon again.

The preview area will visualize your gamepad input as gamepad buttons are pressed / analog sticks are moved. Keep in mind that:

  • Your actual controller layout and what's displayed in the preview area might be different (for example if you're using Playstation controller which has both analog stick at the bottom);
  • Your character model's controller layout might also be different.
